Bedrooms are an important room in our houses. If you have this room in order and feeling good, the benefits are huge. Having a special space in which to go to sleep and wake up to will nourish your spirit.Make your bedroom inviting. Keep it clean. No tv; clock radios, computers etc. Too much electrical equipment will disturb the environment and in turn disturb your sleep. The same can be said for exercise equipment, piles of paper, books, washing, other thing to do. Especially if it is that last thing you see before closing your eyes.
Bedrooms need to have a clear and clean feel to them. Lots of soft, comfortable elements to rest your eyes on. Not a lot of visual noise.
Your bed is the focal point as this is the primary piece of furniture that we use in this room. You can achive this in several ways:
- Bedspread/doona cover
- Cushions
- Bedhead
- Colour
- Matching bedsides and lamps to frame the bed.
Ideally bedsides should be matching or at least there should be two for a double, queen or king bed. Single beds look best with only one bedside. You can use the furniture you have in other ways to create bedsides. For example, stools, chairs, chests, low tables can all be used to place a lamp and rest your books next to your bed.
Soft lighting is also important. As you get ready for bed it is beneficial to have a soft light on to help your body relax and get it ready to sleep.
It is like a gradual step towards the darkness of sleep. It is restful to have the lamps on an hour or so before bed, as not only does it make the room more inviting, it is a nice space in which to organise things for the morning.
