Today I made some changes in my lounge room. I had 2 small bookshelves, both the same style, that I had painted in a charcol grey colour. I had my books and other items colour coded on the shelves. eg All my blue coloured books together, yellow, red etc in colour piles. Then I placed any red items near the red pile of book and a yellow floral box near the orange and yellow books and so on..
It looked very colourful on the charcol shelves, however, I was not totally satisfied with it as it did not match the other colour tones in the room.
Hence my change today.... Today I went and bought some new prints. The prints are in sepia tones, with white mat and look very smart in black frames. I placed these above one set of the charcol shelves. (I moved the other shelves to a different room). And on the shelves I placed black, white and neutral toned books and items.
The result is a very sophisticated arrangement as all the colour toning are similar and more restful than my previous arrangment. I have some black and white storage boxes and some rattan placemats and timber items. I really love this natural but sophisticated look and now it matches the rest of the room much better.
